Jordan Johnson (Head Coach)
Coach Johnson is a proud member of the Friendswood High School Class of 2009. He received a BS in Psychology from LSU and played wide receiver for the Tigers. Coach Johnson is in his 11th season of coaching high school football. He began his coaching career at Rockwall High School in 2014 where he coached for 6 years and in a total of 18 playoff games, 1 state quarter-final game and 1 state semi-final game. After Rockwall, Coach Johnson served as the Offensive Coordinator for the Denton Guyer Wildcats from 2020-2022. In that 3 year span, Denton Guyer played in 16 playoff games while making 2 state semi-final appearances and 1 state championship appearance in 2021. Two notable players Coach Johnson has mentored are Jaxon Smith-Njigba of Rockwall (Seattle Seahawks) and Jackson Arnold of Denton Guyer (Oklahoma Sooners). Jaxon Smith-Njigba finished his high school career 3rd in receiving yards and touchdowns in Texas High School football history and was also named the Texas High School Gatorade Player of The Year in 2019 along with being named an Army All-American. Jackson Arnold finished his high school career with over 7,000 yards passing and 67 touchdowns in 2 seasons. Jackson Arnold was named the National Gatorade Player of The Year in 2022 along with being named an Under Armour All-American. Coach Johnson and his wife, Madeline, welcomed a baby girl into the world, Caronline on December 13th 2023. They also have a 9-year old English Bulldog named Coach. In his downtime, Coach Johnson and his wife enjoy spending time with Caroline and Coach and traveling.
Derrick Hennigan (Offensive Coordinator/Offensive Line)
Coach Hennigan is in his second year with Friendswood Football. He comes to us from Manvel High School, where he was the Offensive Coordinator/ Offensive Line Coach. Coach Hennigan is a graduate of McNeese State University, where he started in 36 games and was All-Southland Conference in football. Coach Hennigan is starting his 26th year coaching, with 21 of them serving as an Offensive Coordinator and/or Associate Head Coach. Derrick is married to Shannon, the Principal of Passmore Elementary in Alvin ISD. They have two children: Aubrey(15) and Brody (13).
Steven Griffith (Defensive Coordinator)
Coach Griffith is from Magnolia, Texas and is entering his 18th year of coaching and his 9th at Friendswood. He has previously coached at Liberty HS, Port Neches-Groves HS and A&M Consolidated HS. He received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Houston and his Masters from Lamar University. Coach Griffith and his wife Amber have two children Grant (13) and Joanna (10).
T.J. Benson (Offensive Line)
T.J. Benson is from Central Square, New York. He graduated from Utica College in 2014 where he received his B.A. degree in English while playing lacrosse. Coach Benson works in Special Education at Friendswood High School. This is Coach Benson’s 5th year coaching football and 7th year at FHS. Benson is also entering his 7th season as the FHS Boys Lacrosse head coach. Coach Benson enjoys traveling, cooking, and spending time with family and friends in his free time.
Brandon Clemons (Offensive Lines)
Brandon Clemons is a native Houstonian and graduated from Baylor University with a Bachelor of Science in Education in 2021. While attending Baylor University he served as a member of the Baylor Football Staff as an equipment manager. This will be his 4th year in Education and 1st year at Friendswood with previous stops at Strake Jesuit College Preparatory and Brazoswood High School. In addition to coaching football, Brandon will be joining the Baseball Staff this spring as well as joining the Social Studies staff at the Junior HIgh teaching Texas History. Off the field, Brandon enjoys spending time with family, fishing, and working out.
Brian Bielamowicz (Wide Receivers)
Brian Bielamowicz is a native of Houston, Texas and graduated from Texas A&M University with a B.S. degree in Science with a minor in History. He has been coaching football at FHS for 18 years and teaches in the Special Education department. In addition to coaching football, he has been an assistant soccer coach for 16 years. Brian is married to Amanda, who is an assistant principal at FHS. They have a daughter, Addison, who plays in the FJH band and a son, Logan, who aspires to play football for the Mustangs one day. Coach Bielamowicz enjoys duck hunting, golf, and spending time with his family.
Clint Copeland (Wide Receivers)
Clint Copeland is from Tyler, Texas and graduated from Arp High School. He graduated from Baylor University in 2014 and is in his 9th year in education. Clint is teaching in the Social Studies department. This will be his 2nd year in Friendswood coaching varsity wide receivers. Coach Copeland will also serve as the head boys and girls track coach. He previously worked in Whitehouse, Jacksonville, and Lindale.
Ted Thomas (Tight Ends, HBacks, Special Teams)
Ted Thomas is a native of Friendswood and a graduate of the University of Houston Clear Lake. He has been in education for 23 years, the last 16 of which he has worked at Friendswood High School. Ted enjoys golf, is a self proclaimed “foodie” and loves spending time with his wife Karen and 17 year old daughter Gracen.
Nathan Roher (Running Backs)
Nathan Roher is a native of Friendswood & FHS graduate, and has been teaching and coaching at FHS for 28 years. He earned his B.A. degree from Friends University and a Masters in Education from the University of Houston. He teaches AP World History. He has been married to his lovely wife, Tena, for over 30 years. They have four children: Elaina (Spanish teacher), Sallianne (McGovern Medical School), J.T. (University of Houston) and Nate (9th grade). He enjoys family, fishing, and chips & queso.
Aron Robinson (Secondary Coordinator/Head Freshman)
Aaron Robinson is from Pasadena, Texas and attended college at Henderson State University where he earned his M.A. in Sports Administration. He played football for Henderson State for 5 years and went on to coach football, basketball, & soccer at the intermediate and high school levels for his hometown. He is entering his second year with Friendswood, serving as the varsity safeties coach & head freshman. Coach Robinson and his wife Chae have a one and half year old daughter, Penelope, who looks forward to being a FHS graduate, Class of 2041. He enjoys golfing, traveling, and playing with his two dogs – Red & Maizy.
Daniel Valenzuela (Outside Linebackers)
Danny Valenzuela is a native of El Paso, Texas and a graduate of the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) with a degree in Political Science and a Masters degree in Education Administration. This will be his 23rd year as a teacher/coach and first year at Friendswood High School. Danny has experience coaching defensive line, inside linebackers, outside linebackers, and safeties and has experience as a Defensive Coordinator (El Paso Eastwood, Pasadena Sam Rayburn). Danny will be teaching Health at Friendswood High School this year as well as coaching track. Danny is married to Norma Gomez-Valenzuela and enjoys spending time with friends and family, his two dogs (Bella and Jules), working out, watching movies, and reading.
Timarcus Davis (CornerBacks)
Timarcus Davis is a native of College Station, Texas and attended Baylor University and Arizona State University with a degree in Integrative Health and Psychology. This will be his 1st year as a substitute/coach and first year at Friendswood High School. Timarcus has 20 years of experience as a football player, speading five years in collegiate football and two years of playing professional football with LA Rams and The Montreal Alouettes.
Jared Owens (Defensive Line)
Jared Owens is from Elgin, Oklahoma. He graduated from Southwestern Oklahoma State University in 2015 where he received his B.S. degree in Mild/Moderate Disabilities and Special Education. Coach Owens works in Special Education at Friendswood High School. He is entering his 9th year of coaching and his 3rd year at Friendswood. He has previously coached at Clear Brook HS and W.B. Ray High School. In addition to coaching football, he is the Head Wrestling Coach. Coach Owens enjoys watching Oklahoma Sooner football, golfing, traveling, and spending time with family and friends. Bobby Blankenship (Defensive Line)
Bobby Blankenship is a native of Santa Fe, Texas. He received a B.A. degree in History from the University of Houston-Clear Lake. Blankenship is in his 10th year of coaching for the Mustangs. In addition to football, Blankenship teaches US History and also coaches basketball. Coach Blankenship’s wife Courtney is a Special Education teacher at Pasadena Memorial.Coach Blankenship and his wife have one daughter, Emerson who just turned 1 in May. During their free time, they enjoy spending time with families and friends. He enjoys lifting weights, reading, and fishing.
Jared Yawn (Defensive Line)
Jared Yawn is a graduate of Friendswood High School Class of 2022 and is said to be one of the biggest Friendswood fans out there. This is Jared’s 3rd year of coaching in FISD and this will be his 1st year on the high school coaching staff. He is currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Public Service Leadership from the University of Houston at Clear Lake. When Jared isn’t on the football field he enjoys worshiping the Lord, leading yth, and living life to the fullest. Jared is excited to join the high school staff this year and can’t wait to see what the future holds for him.
